Consultancy and training

Why choose us?

Our team is made up of experienced practitioners, managers, researchers, people with learning disabilities and family experts.

We work across the UK and internationally with a focus on prevention and combating the inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities and their families. The team works to improve services, increase staff performance, develop new and innovative approaches and use research findings and policy directives to create more effective services. We also have a long track record in helping organisations evaluate their services with a resulting improvement plan.

Who can we help?

Our work is with a range of organisations including local authorities, the NHS, the Department of Health, education, third-sector providers, parents and self-advocacy groups as well as mainstream services such as colleges and businesses.

What do we offer?

We offer a tailor-made approach to every request for training, seminars and consultancy. We have a long-term interest in improving health outcomes, developing better services for people with a dual diagnosis of mental ill health and learning disabilities and in the unmet needs of older families concerning planning for the long term.

Our specialist knowledge of learning disabilities has been called upon to assist a wide group of interested parties sitting outside statutory health and social care services.

With vast experience in supporting individuals and organisations to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities, we offer tailored support to assess, plan and implement changes to ensure services are person centred, innovative and meet people's needs.

At the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities we believe in creating a culture where people are valued and where the person's life and wishes are at the centre of all that is offered. We want to enable and empower staff and managers to challenge bad practice and end institutional ways of thinking and working.
