Learning disability statistics: employment

In 2010/11, only 6.6% of adults with learning disabilities were reported to be in some form of paid employment.


  • The majority of people with learning disabilities who are in employment, work part-time
  • Men were more likely to be working 30+ hours per week than women (1.3% v 0.4%). Employment rates varied considerably across Local Authorities, ranging from 0-36%. (Souce: People with Learning Disabilities in England 2011)
