Promoting emotional wellbeing

Young people with learning disabilities want to enjoy full, happy lives. However, they are at higher risk than other young people of developing mental health problems, especially at times of stress and change. 

Positive mental health must be promoted among young people with learning disabilities and schools and colleges have a crucial role to play in this. Friends and family, meaningful activities, good physical health, a sense of self-worth and control over one's life are the building blocks of emotional wellbeing and services needs to develop plans to address these needs. This report looks at ways this can be done.
