Valuing people with learning disabilities in England

Valuing People is the first Government White Paper on learning disabilities in England for 30 years. It provides a new vision for learning disability services based on the principles of rights, independence, choice and inclusion.

The major emphasis is partnership working between people with learning disabilities, their families, statutory agencies, private and voluntary organisations. This is to be achieved around the structures of person-centred planning and new learning disability partnership boards.

This update focusses on what the White Paper promises for older people with learning disabilities and those who are living with older family carers.
